PDP Chieftain Criticizes Senate's Removal of E-Election Results Transmission

Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, a prominent figure in the People Democratic Party (PDP), strongly criticized the Nigerian Senate's decision to remove the mandatory electronic transmission of election results. He expressed concerns that this move could undermine the credibility of the 2023 general elections and pave the way for electoral malpractice.

Ajadi urged the Senate to reconsider the amendment to ensure that electronic transmission remains compulsory to uphold free, fair, and credible elections in Nigeria. The statement was issued in response to the Senate's rejection of a provision allowing INEC to electronically transmit results from polling units.

Ajadi emphasized the importance of transparent electoral processes to prevent manipulation and violence during elections, advocating for a clear and unambiguous Electoral Act to ensure the emergence of genuinely elected leaders.
