PDP Holds Emergency Meeting After Court Stops National Convention Plans

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) convened an emergency meeting following a court order halting its national convention scheduled for November 15-16 in Ibadan, Oyo State. The Federal High Court in Abuja directed the PDP to comply with its house order and statutory notice requirements.

PDP members from the National Working Committee (NWC) discussed the court ruling anonymously and planned to review the situation with state PDP leaders. PDP's National Chairman, Umar Damagum, expressed disappointment over the setback to democracy and pledged to appeal the court's decision.
