PDP Convention Under Threat As Wike Opposes Ibadan Event

The upcoming PDP convention faces a threat as Governor Wike opposes the decision to hold the event in Ibadan, citing concerns about unresolved disputes within the party. The convention, scheduled for November 15-16, is crucial as new members are expected to be elected to the National Working Committee.

Wike expressed dissatisfaction with the recently constituted Caretaker Committee and warned that ignoring the zonal congress could lead to a fresh crisis. He argued that the party must address issues like the retention of Ali Odefa as National Vice Chairman South East.

Despite reports of a parallel convention being planned, Wike dismissed them and pledged to fight against injustice within the party. The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, countered Wike's stance, stating that the convention would proceed as scheduled and that necessary actions would be taken to address any opposition.
