Wike Threatens to Derail PDP National Convention Over Location Dispute

Tension is brewing within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, threatens to disrupt the party's national convention scheduled for November 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo State. The dispute reportedly stems from unresolved internal disagreements between Wike and former ally, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

Wike has expressed dissatisfaction with the recently constituted National Working Committee (NWC) and warned that ignoring the zonal congress that produced Dan Orbih as National Vice Chairman could lead to a fresh crisis. Despite Wike's threats, the PDP National Publicity Secretary reaffirmed that the convention would proceed as planned in Ibadan, emphasizing that proper procedures have been followed.

The standoff highlights deepening internal divisions within the party as it prepares for the upcoming convention.
