PDP govs give full backing to Ibadan convention, vow to resist attempts to derail it

PDP governors have expressed full support for the upcoming November 15 Elective National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, and vowed to resist any attempts to derail it. The decision was made during a meeting of the PDP Governors Forum in Zamfara State.

The meeting came after some party members from the Southern zone opposed a meeting held in Lagos, which they felt excluded important stakeholders. The governors emphasized the importance of unity and electoral success for the party, urging genuine leaders to resist any attempts to manipulate zoning arrangements.

They also criticized the ruling APC for intimidating party supporters and commended PDP members for their loyalty in the face of challenges. The governors condemned the insecurity in the country and called on the federal government to be more responsive.

The forum also criticized the recent bye-elections for irregularities and violence. The Lagos State chapter of the PDP clarified that they are in alignment with the decision to hold the convention in Ibadan, as agreed upon by the rest of the states.
