PDP Factions Wike and Makinde Move Towards Reconciliation

The factions within the People's Democratic Party (PDP), led by Nyesom Wike and Seyi Makinde, are preparing for reconciliation after an appeal court intervention. The appeal court, sitting in Ibadan, advised both factions to explore peaceful settlement options rather than prolonging legal battles.

This advice came during proceedings on November 2025, where the court noted the internal party matters and encouraged leaders to resolve their differences. The conflict arose from the legitimacy of the party's national leadership, particularly following a convention that produced a national working committee led by Tanimu Turaki.

However, Wike's faction rejected the convention's outcome, leading to a separate ruling from the Oyo State High Court affirming Turaki's legitimacy. The appeal court has adjourned the matter to March 11, allowing time for dialogue.

Influential party stakeholders are reportedly facilitating negotiations to restore unity within the PDP, which has been grappling with leadership disputes since the 2023 general elections.
