Wike Urges PDP Members to Prioritize Reconciliation

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has called on members of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to set aside personal egos and prioritize reconciliation after an Appeal Court verdict dismissed multiple appeals concerning internal party disputes. Wike emphasized that the court's decision underscores the necessity of adhering to statutory provisions of the Electoral Act and the party's constitution.

He warned that dragging the case to the Supreme Court could lead to self-destruction of the party and jeopardize its position ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle. Wike confirmed that the tenure of the previous office has expired and noted that the party's national caretaker committee is the legally recognized body managing its affairs to prevent any leadership vacuum.

He also mentioned preparations for a fresh national convention scheduled for March 29-30 in Abuja, indicating a need for unity to ensure the PDP remains a major opposition party against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
