Dickson Declares PDP No Longer Exists, Plans New Party

Seriak Dickson, the former governor of Bayelsa State, stated on Tuesday that the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has effectively collapsed, attributing this to internal crises and leadership failures. He emphasized that the PDP, once a significant political platform in Nigeria, has lost its identity and no longer represents the interests of Nigerians.

Dickson noted that the party, which produced notable presidents such as Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, and Goodluck Jonathan, has deviated significantly from its original structure. He criticized the party's leadership for failing to embrace compromise and for allowing internal disagreements to worsen the situation.

Despite efforts to stabilize the PDP, including proposals for a caretaker arrangement, Dickson believes that the party's structure and leadership clarity have been lost. He expressed his intention to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to focus on building a new opposition platform rather than rushing into coalitions.
