PenCom Alerts Nigerians on Rising Job Recruitment Scams

The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has issued a strong warning to Nigerians about an increasing wave of job recruitment scams. In a statement shared via its official Twitter handle on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, PenCom urged the public to remain vigilant to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.

The commission noted that scammers are impersonating its officials and reaching out to unsuspecting job seekers through various channels, including WhatsApp, email, and direct phone calls, falsely claiming to offer employment opportunities within the commission. These fraudsters often create a sense of urgency, claiming that individuals must respond within 48 hours, and typically ask victims to submit confidential documents and personal identification details via WhatsApp.

PenCom highlighted that these tactics are clear red flags and warned that perpetrators have gone as far as impersonating directors to lend credibility to their schemes. The commission advised the public to delete suspicious messages and refrain from sharing personal information.

This warning comes amid broader efforts to combat financial fraud in Nigeria.
