PENGASSAN Strikes at Dangote Refinery Over Dismissal Dispute

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has initiated an indefinite strike at the Dangote Refinery in Lagos following the reported dismissal of an employee. The strike, effective since September 28, 2025, has led to the shutdown of operations at the refinery.

PENGASSAN accused Dangote of seeking to sabotage the country's energy supply chain, while Dangote Refinery defended the dismissals as part of a reorganization exercise. PENGASSAN's President, Festus Osifo, warned that the refinery's actions could harm the Nigerian economy.

The union emphasized its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the oil and gas sector. The situation remains tense as both sides stand firm on their positions.
