PenCom Recovers N32 Billion in Pension Remittances from Defaulting Employers

The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has recovered a total of N32.27 billion from defaulting employers who failed to remit pension deductions from employees' salaries. The recovery includes N15.87 billion in recovered principal contributions and N16.40 billion in penalties from defaulting employers.

PenCom has recorded significant compliance gains, with N2.06 billion recovered in the third quarter of 2025 alone. Director-General Omolola Oloworaran highlighted the importance of enforcing compliance to uphold the pension system's integrity.

The workshop also featured discussions on the challenges faced by the Contributory Pension Scheme due to persistent defaults by employers.
