Oyo Alafin Society Proposes Military Cantonment in Oyo

On Monday, Mr. Richard Pheelangwah, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, met with a delegation from the Oyo Alafin Society in Abuja.

The meeting focused on a proposal to establish a military cantonment in Oyo State, which Mr. Pheelangwah described as a "noble" initiative.

The delegation, representing the Oyo Alafin Society, aimed to discuss partnership opportunities to address security challenges in the region. During the visit, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, the Alaafin of Oyo, conveyed the community's commitment to providing land for the cantonment, which is proposed to be located near Otefon Town in the Atiba Local Government Area.

The site is intended to accommodate Nigerian Army operational units, a military training school, healthcare facilities, residential quarters, and commercial centers. Engr.
