Peter Akpe Sworn In as Bayelsa Deputy Governor

Peter Akpe was sworn in as the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State during a ceremony held on Wednesday at the Bayelsa State Executive Council Chamber in Yenagoa. His appointment follows the passing of the former Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who died on December 11.

Governor Douye Diri praised Ewhrudjakpo's contributions and disclosed that Akpe's nomination was based on prayer and consultation. Akpe will serve the remaining two years of the current administration.

The ceremony also featured the inauguration of four commissions and the appointment of 18 permanent secretaries, marking a broader reshuffle within the state's executive structure. Governor Diri urged Akpe to uphold the oath of office and contribute positively to the administration.
