Peter Obi Critiques Leadership After JAMB Candidates Abduction

Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, condemned the leadership failure in Nigeria in response to the recent abduction of JAMB candidates in Benue. In a post on his social media account, Obi described the incident as heartbreaking and indicative of a broader leadership failure.

He stressed that the country has abandoned its youth and their future, leading to a state of insecurity that cannot continue. Obi lamented that young Nigerians are striving for education while facing terror and insecurity.

He pointed out that Nigeria's tertiary graduation rates are painfully low, with only 1% of young Nigerians graduating, which is far below that of Indonesia at 13% and South Africa at around 10%. Obi's remarks highlight the urgent need for improved security and educational opportunities for the youth in Nigeria.
