Peter Obi Raises Alarm Over Nigeria's Rising Insecurity

Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, issued a press statement on Monday expressing grave concern over the rising insecurity in Nigeria. He noted that terrorist activities have intensified, particularly in Borno State, where terrorists have overpowered and killed Nigerian soldiers and abducted numerous civilians.

Reports indicate that over 100 women and children have been kidnapped across several states, including Nasarawa, Kogi, Oyo, Kebbi, and Benue. In Nasarawa State alone, 14,318 civilians have been registered as internally displaced persons due to these attacks.

The situation in Kebbi State has seen a third deadly attack within a month, resulting in the deaths of soldiers and civilians. Additionally, in Oyo State, travelers were abducted along the Kishi-Igbeti road, with their whereabouts currently unknown.

Obi lamented that even Abuja, the nation's capital, is not spared, with 19 individuals, including women and children, abducted in the Kubwa suburb last week, underscoring that insecurity has become a tragic norm across the country.
