Peter Obi Faces Petition Over Alleged Fake ID Travel

A petition has been submitted against Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, alleging that he has repeatedly traveled with a female passenger using fake identities. The petition, dated July 12, 2026, requests an urgent investigation by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

It claims that Obi has made arrangements to enable the passenger to travel under different names despite airline restrictions. The petition details several incidents where airport staff allegedly failed to conduct proper identification checks when Obi traveled with the passenger.

Specific instances include a flight from Abuja on July 24, 2025, where the passenger used different names. The petition also alleges that Obi's actions undermine aviation security and violate the Civil Aviation Act of 2022.
