Peter Obi's Office Denies Anti-North Allegations

Peter Obi's media office issued a statement dismissing allegations that he was anti-North and had expelled northern traders and beggars during his governorship of Anambra State. The spokesperson, Ibrahim Umar, described these claims as false and politically motivated attempts to distort Obi's record and stir ethnic division ahead of political activities.

The office clarified that no such actions were taken during Obi's tenure, which focused on social welfare interventions to support vulnerable individuals, including displaced persons and street children in major urban areas like Awka and Onitsha. The statement emphasized Obi's consistent engagement with diverse groups and his efforts to maintain peace among different ethnic and religious communities, particularly in areas with significant northern populations.

It also noted that Obi's administration worked to prevent ethnic violence and foster respect among local leaders from the North.
