Obi and Kwankwaso Supporters Launch New Political Movement

On Monday, a new political pressure group named the Obi Kwankwaso Movement was launched in Abuja by supporters of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and ex-Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso. This movement is strategically positioned ahead of the 2027 presidential race and has already established structures across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Justin Ijeh, the movement's spokesperson, disclosed that state and zonal coordinators have been appointed to drive mobilization efforts. The initiative aims to draw members from the Obidi Movement and Kwankwasiyya, signaling a fresh realignment within opposition ranks, particularly in contention for the African Democratic Congress presidential ticket.

The movement is grassroots-driven, mirroring the mobilization style of the Obidi Movement, which gained prominence during the 2023 elections. Ijeh stated that the movement was formed in response to the country's current challenges and promotes unity while rejecting identity-based politics.

The movement plans to formally inaugurate its state chapters across the country soon. Yunusa Tanko, the national coordinator of the Obidi Movement, confirmed the new group's alignment with existing support structures backing Obi.
