Obi and Kwankwaso Join NDC Amid ADC Ticket Struggles

Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso have officially joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) after leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Their departure is attributed to ongoing internal conflicts within the ADC regarding the allocation of the presidential ticket for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Sources indicate that the ADC has struggled to clearly define its rules for engaging aspirants, particularly concerning the zoning of the presidential ticket between the north and south, which has created uncertainty among major stakeholders. Additionally, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar's insistence on contesting again complicates efforts to reach a consensus within the opposition coalition.

The ADC's failure to clarify its position has affected its stability, prompting Obi and Kwankwaso to seek membership in the NDC, where they received their new membership cards at the party's national headquarters on a Sunday.
