Presidency Criticizes Peter Obi's Accountability in Politics

The Presidency, through Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, criticized Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, claiming he is unfit to govern Nigeria. Onanuga's remarks followed the Anambra State Government's response to statements attributed to Obi.

He accused Obi's supporters of creating a double standard that protects him from scrutiny, allowing him to make false claims without accountability. Onanuga highlighted that Obi has consistently criticized his predecessors and successors while positioning himself as the only capable political figure for Anambra.

He also noted that Obi's supporters tolerate what he termed falsehoods due to their loyalty, undermining public accountability. Furthermore, Onanuga questioned Obi's governance approach, emphasizing that effective governance should focus on citizens' welfare rather than merely on government savings.
