Justice Salami Declares Peter Obi Unqualified for 2023 Election

Justice Isa Salami, a retired former president of the Court of Appeal, declared that Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, is not qualified to contest in the 2023 presidential election. Salami criticized Obi's candidacy, citing inadequacies and incompetence as reasons for his disqualification.

These comments were made during a courtesy visit in Ilorin, Kwara State, where Salami was present to receive an award from the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism. He expressed concerns about the judiciary, mentioning that some judges are not adequately qualified, which leads to poor judgments.

Salami emphasized the importance of having experienced judges in higher positions and lamented the current state of the judiciary, suggesting that the system needs reform. He also referenced the influence of notable figures like Wole Soyinka and Chief Obafemi Awolowo on legal principles in Nigeria.
