During an appearance on Arise News' Prime Time, Obi criticized the ADC's presidential primary process, describing it as a transaction rather than a fair electoral process.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the internal dynamics of the Labour Party, alleging that the party's structure has been compromised and that he has not participated in the primary process due to these issues. Obi emphasized that he would not remain part of a compromised party and indicated that he would leave the ADC if similar circumstances arose.

He also highlighted ongoing crises within the Labour Party, suggesting that political influences have exacerbated internal disputes.
