Peter Obi Sues Kenneth Okonkwo for Defamation

Peter Obi, a presidential candidate and former governor of Anambra State, has initiated legal action against Kenneth Okonkwo, a Nollywood actor turned lawyer and politician. The lawsuit, filed by Obi's legal counsel Chief Alex Ejesiem SAN, alleges that Okonkwo made false claims that Obi solicited a bribe of N10 million from individuals aspiring to contest for the House of Representatives.

Obi's legal team contends that these allegations are baseless and defamatory, asserting that they have caused significant harm to Obi's reputation and integrity. The suit demands that Okonkwo retract his statements, issue a public apology, and provide financial compensation.

The allegations were reportedly made during a live broadcast and have since circulated widely on social media, prompting Obi's team to emphasize the malicious intent behind Okonkwo's remarks. The legal team also highlighted Okonkwo's previous accusations against Obi regarding his political affiliations, indicating a history of conflict between the two.
