Peter Obi to Sue Kenneth Okonkwo for Defamation

Peter Obi, a prominent figure in the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared his intent to file a defamation lawsuit against actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo. This legal action follows allegations made by Okonkwo during a television appearance on Channels Television's Sunrise Daily, where he claimed that Obi's campaign was involved in corrupt practices during party primaries.

Okonkwo alleged that Obi coerced party representatives into accepting a bribe of N10 million for a security ticket, which he claimed was part of a larger scheme involving N5 billion in defamation. Obi's legal team has issued a demand letter to Okonkwo, asserting that the allegations are baseless and harmful to Obi's reputation.

The lawsuit aims to expose the claims publicly, alongside other criminal allegations against Okonkwo. Obi's response emphasizes the need for accountability and transparency in the political process, particularly regarding the integrity of party nominations.
