ADC Faces Division Over Presidential Ticket for 2027

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is facing significant internal strife regarding its presidential ticket for the upcoming 2027 general elections. The party is divided primarily between supporters of Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, with tensions escalating as three factions emerge within the party.

Despite ongoing leadership disputes, the ADC plans to proceed with its national convention in Abuja on Tuesday without formal recognition from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Atiku's camp has proposed a joint ticket with Obi, which Obi's supporters have strongly rejected, insisting that the presidential ticket should be zoned to the South.

Tanko Yunusa from Obi's camp emphasized that failing to zone the ticket appropriately could jeopardize the ADC's electoral chances. Obi has also expressed concerns about the integrity of the primary process, warning against participating in what he deems a flawed system.

ADC spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi reassured members that the party remains committed to a transparent process despite internal challenges.
