Peter Obi Supporters Demand ADC Southern Ticket, INEC Resignation

Supporters of Peter Obi have publicly challenged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar's assertion that the presidency should not be zoned to the south for the 2027 elections. During a press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists secretariat in Plateau State, the group, led by Magnu Oraka, called for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to nominate a southern candidate.

They warned that presenting a northern candidate would weaken the opposition's chances in the upcoming elections. Additionally, the group demanded the immediate resignation of Joash Amupitan, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accusing him of partisanship and interference in party affairs, particularly within the ADC.

Oraka criticized Atiku's repeated presidential ambitions and questioned the neutrality of the INEC chairman, urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to act on this matter.
