Okonkwo Claims Obi Will Avoid Primaries Forever

Kenneth Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declared that Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), will never contest in primary elections again throughout his political career. Okonkwo attributed this to Obi's longstanding fear of open electoral contests, noting that Obi has historically avoided competitive primaries and instead relied on political negotiations and arrangements.

This statement was made during an interview on a television program following Obi's departure from the ADC, which Okonkwo described as not ideologically driven but rather a response to internal crises. Additionally, Okonkwo criticized Senate President Godswill Akpabio for his remarks during a plenary session, where Akpabio announced his defection from the Abia South Senate seat, prompting a reaction from Enyinnaya Abaribe.
