Okonkwo: Obi's Defection Won't Hinder ADC's 2027 Bid

Kenneth Okonkwo, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), asserted that the recent defections of former presidential candidate Peter Obi will not affect the ADC's prospects in the upcoming 2027 presidential elections. In an interview, Okonkwo expressed confidence that the ADC would successfully form the next government in Nigeria, stating that their coalition efforts would be effective.

He criticized Obi for changing political parties three times within six months, moving from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to the Labour Party and finally to the ADC. Okonkwo argued that such frequent changes raise questions about Obi's political character and capacity to lead.

He emphasized that the ADC would not be challenged by Obi's actions and that the party's membership rules allow for natural changes without restrictions. Okonkwo's comments reflect the ADC's determination to secure a victory in the 2027 elections despite the shifting political landscape.
