PETROAN Orders Fuel Stations to Verify Dispensing Meters

The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has directed its members to inspect and verify the accuracy of fuel dispensing meters across Nigeria. This directive follows a warning from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) regarding alleged under-dispensing of petroleum products at some filling stations.

PETROAN National President, Billy Gillis-Harry, announced this on Channels Television’s *The Morning Brief*, stating that an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council was convened to address the regulator's concerns. The meeting lasted until about 10pm, after which members were instructed to check their meters promptly.

Gillis-Harry highlighted that faulty equipment could lead to customers receiving incorrect fuel quantities. He assured motorists of PETROAN's commitment to accurate fuel measurement and advised consumers to monitor dispensing meters and request receipts.

PETROAN collaborates with the Weights and Measures Division and NMDPRA to ensure functional and accurate dispensing meters. The NMDPRA warned that stations found under-dispensing could face sanctions, including license withdrawal.
