Reps Summon Foreign Affairs Minister Over PFIPC Probe

The House of Representatives summoned the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dunoma Umar, and the National Security Adviser (NSA) as part of an ongoing investigation into the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC). The probe focuses on allegations that the PFIPC operated without legal backing.

During a session, Umar informed lawmakers that there was no official relationship endorsing PFIPC's activities. He revealed that requests for support from the PFIPC were received on June 26, August 5, and June 5 of 2026, but none were approved.

The Minister expressed concerns regarding the legitimacy of PFIPC and noted discrepancies in documents submitted by its alleged director general, Adeniyi Adeyemi. The NSA was also involved, with inquiries made about Adeyemi's status, which confirmed that the PFIPC was not recognized by the government.

Lawmakers raised concerns about the PFIPC's ability to hold events involving diplomats despite its questionable legal status.
