Ministry Disowns PFIPC, Summons Nuhu Ribadu for Clarification

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria has disowned the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), asserting that it neither recognizes the council nor any official dealings with it. Director General Adeniyi Adeyemi disclosed this during a hearing by the House of Representatives' ad hoc committee investigating the PFIPC's legal status.

The ministry rejected three requests from the PFIPC for collaboration regarding the World Investment Summit in Nigeria, citing inconsistencies in the council's correspondence and raising concerns about its legitimacy. The ministry's permanent secretary, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, informed the committee that the ministry does not facilitate meetings with the PFIPC and has no records of any agreements with it.

The committee, led by Yusuf Gagdi, expressed concerns about the PFIPC's operations without government recognition and summoned National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to clarify actions taken regarding the council's activities.
