PCN Seals 397 Pharmacy Premises in Oyo State

The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) sealed 397 pharmacy premises in Oyo State as part of an enforcement operation to ensure compliance with prescribed pharmaceutical standards. This operation, which took place over four days, included the sealing of 60 pharmacies, 81 patent medicine stores, and 256 illegal outlets.

Dr. Suleiman Chiroma, head of enforcement at the PCN, disclosed this during a press conference held at the PCN zonal office in Ibadan on Thursday.

The enforcement exercise began on Monday and aimed to verify facilities and personnel within the medicine distribution system, uncovering several premises unlawfully storing and dispensing medicines beyond their legal scope. The operation covered various local government areas, inspecting a total of 590 premises.

The PCN found that 42% of the total premises visited were illegal, leading to 64% of the sealed premises being categorized as non-compliant. The council emphasized its commitment to public safety and the integrity of the pharmaceutical practice environment.
