Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno Defects to APC, Meets Tinubu

On Thursday, Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. During the meeting, Eno expressed his gratitude for the support he received from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) throughout his tenure.

He announced his decision to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the need for Akwa Ibom State to align with the federal government to continue reaping benefits. Eno's decision followed three months of consultations with critical stakeholders across the state.

He emphasized that he would work tirelessly for the benefit of the people of Akwa Ibom, regardless of party affiliation. Eno also mentioned that he respects President Tinubu and acknowledged the need for the state to align with the central government.

Notably, he indicated that Senator Godswill Akpabio, who is currently the Senate President, did not join the APC, which he described as a weak position for the state.
