COAS Awards Winners of 2026 Literary Competition

On July 6, 2026, Lt. Gen.

Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, honored outstanding winners of the 2026 COAS Literary Competition during an award ceremony at the 4 Special Forces Command in Doma, Nasarawa State. This competition, organized by the Nigerian Army, aimed to foster educational and intellectual development among young Nigerians.

Olurotimi Awolo explained that the competition featured categories for essays and poetry, encouraging students from army schools across the country to express their views on national issues, particularly in security and peacebuilding. Three pupils from the Command Children School in Doma emerged as winners: Aminu Zayyanu secured second place in the primary essay category with a prize of ₦250,000, while Bright Dorasimi and Hope Emmanuel took third place in the primary essay and poetry categories, respectively, each receiving ₦100,000.

The event celebrated the achievements of these students and emphasized the importance of education in national development.
