Obi and Kwankwaso Meet NDC Candidates for 2027 Elections

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, convened with the party’s governorship candidates for Bauchi, Sokoto, and Borno states at Kwankwaso’s residence in Maitama, Abuja. The meeting included Ibrahim Kashim (Bauchi), Dr Shamsu Aliyu (Sokoto), and retired Admiral Sunusi Ibrahim (Borno).

According to the NDC, the meeting aimed to discuss strategies and assess the candidates' readiness for the upcoming 2027 general elections. It emphasized the need for coordinated campaigns to secure victories at all levels.

Other attendees included Buba Galadima, the party’s Kebbi State Chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Umar, and Sokoto State Chairman, Alhaji Bello Yabo, among other party leaders. The discussions were part of the NDC's efforts to enhance coordination among its candidates and structures in northern states as the party intensifies its preparations for the elections.

The NDC ticket of Obi and Kwankwaso was confirmed at the party’s special convention in Abuja in May 2026.
