Oluremi Tinubu Urges Nigerians to Grow Food at Home

On Tuesday, Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, harvested fresh vegetables from the garden at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. This garden was established two years ago as part of a broader initiative to encourage Nigerians to grow food at home, thereby supporting food security.

During her visit, she highlighted the importance of home gardening, especially as food prices continue to rise. The garden produces various vegetables, including spinach, waterleaf, and pumpkin.

Tinubu shared some of the produce with her staff and reiterated the need for every household to engage in gardening. This initiative coincides with the launch of a home garden competition aimed at encouraging women and families across the country to cultivate vegetables at home.

The First Lady's efforts are intended to demonstrate that even small household spaces can be utilized to grow nutritious food, ultimately reducing the cost of feeding families.
