Gombe Police Arrest Eight in Armed Robbery, Fraud Case

On June 7, 2026, the Gombe State Police Command announced the arrest of an eight-member criminal syndicate involved in armed robbery and internet fraud. The operation was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Buhari Abdullahi, following a complaint from a victim, Hassan Muhammad Jibril, in Akko Local Government Area.

The suspects allegedly broke into the victim's residence, stole a mobile phone, and accessed the victim's bank account, withdrawing N296,790 from a GTBank account and an additional N205,205 through a quick loan. The first suspect, Mustapha Kabiru, a 19-year-old computer science student at Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo, confessed during interrogation, leading to the arrest of seven additional suspects.

Investigations revealed the syndicate's involvement in thirteen similar incidents across various communities in Gombe State. The Gombe State Police Command, led by Commissioner Umar Ahm Chuso, emphasized their commitment to tackling all forms of crime, including cybercrime and violent offenses.
