Osaka Upsets Sabalenka to Reach Wimbledon Quarter-Finals

Naomi Osaka achieved a significant upset by defeating World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka with a score of 6-2, 7-6(2) to advance to her first Wimbledon quarter-final. This match took place at the All England Club and represents Osaka's first appearance in the Wimbledon quarter-finals in her career.

The victory avenged her previous straight-set defeat to Sabalenka in the fourth round of the French Open in June. Under the guidance of her current coach, Tomasz Wiktorowski, who is also the former mentor of four-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek, Osaka has won four matches in this tournament without dropping a set.

Seeded 14th, Osaka displayed increased confidence on the grass surface, traditionally her least successful. She credited her mother's cooking for fueling her performance, stating that her mother prepared Japanese meals for her during the tournament.

Osaka will next face Czech 10th seed Karolina Muchova in the semi-finals.
