Peter Obi Meets Obasanjo Amid 2027 Election Talks

On Wednesday, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo. This meeting is significant as it occurs amid increasing political discussions regarding Obasanjo's influence ahead of the 2027 general election.

Photos from the meeting, shared by Obi’s photographer Esther Umoh, depict Obi in a blue traditional outfit alongside Obasanjo, who wore a white native attire and a blue patterned cap. A Catholic bishop was also present during parts of the meeting.

This engagement follows Obi's attendance at the funeral service for Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour, mother of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour. Additionally, Akin Osuntokun, former Political Adviser to Obasanjo, asserted that Obasanjo is a key supporter of the alliance between Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, dismissing claims of Obasanjo's support for President Bola Tinubu.

Osuntokun emphasized that Obasanjo played a pivotal role in uniting the two opposition leaders.
