Peter Obi Meets British Envoy to Discuss Nigeria's Future

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 election, disclosed details of his meeting with the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, in a statement on Tuesday.

Their discussions centered on Nigeria’s democracy, economic challenges, and the importance of credible elections. Obi emphasized the need for strengthening institutions to ensure free, fair, and credible elections that reflect the will of the Nigerian people.

He expressed appreciation for Dr. Montgomery's contributions to enhancing Nigeria-UK relations as the diplomat prepares to conclude his assignment next month.

Obi thanked him for his service and the constructive engagement during his tenure, wishing him success in his next assignment. The meeting occurred a day after a discussion with Patrick Egloff regarding Nigeria’s developmental priorities, including education, healthcare, and poverty reduction, where Obi commended the Swiss Confederation for its support in various initiatives.
