NMDPRA Launches Digital Portal for Host Community Trust

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) held a workshop in Port Harcourt to engage stakeholders on the operationalization of the Midstream Host Community Development Trust (MHCDT). Chief Executive Rabiu Umar announced the launch of a digital portal designed to support the registration of trusts and monitor statutory contributions and compliance in real-time.

This initiative is part of a broader digital transformation agenda aimed at standardizing operations and reducing disputes within the petroleum sector. The workshop emphasized the importance of the MHCDT framework in ensuring that host communities directly benefit from petroleum operations, promoting peace, coexistence, and sustainable development.

Hon. Dumnamen Dekor, Chairman of the House Committee on Host Communities, commended the forum for its role in educating stakeholders about their rights and responsibilities under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).

The event marked a significant milestone in the implementation of the PIA, which aims to enhance community development and trust in the oil and gas sector.
