Turkish Airlines Reaffirms Commitment Amid Worker Protests

Turkish Airlines has reiterated its commitment to the welfare of its employees in response to picketing actions by aviation workers at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Tuesday. The protests were triggered by the alleged dismissal of seven members of the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUAT).

The airline acknowledged the right of workers to express their concerns but described the current picketing as unfortunate, noting that discussions were already underway with the union. Turkish Airlines emphasized that it operates in strict compliance with Nigerian labor regulations and aviation industry guidelines, prioritizing the safety of passengers and staff.

The airline warned that if the situation disrupts operations, it may have to reconsider its flight schedules, including the possibility of cancellations. Despite the tensions, Turkish Airlines expressed its openness to constructive engagement with the union and relevant stakeholders to reach a responsible resolution.
