PINL Calls for Stronger Community Partnerships in Niger Delta

Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) is advocating for stronger community partnerships to secure oil and gas pipelines in the Niger Delta, particularly along the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) and Eastern Gas Network (EGN). During a stakeholder engagement meeting in Bayelsa State, PINL's General Manager, Dr.

Akpo Mezeh, highlighted the importance of community participation in safeguarding these critical infrastructures. He noted that community ownership and commitment to protecting oil and gas assets are essential for national security and revenue generation.

Mezeh commended the cooperation of stakeholders, which has significantly reduced incidents of oil theft and vandalism. The company plans to disburse scholarships to students in host communities and initiate a women's empowerment program by 2026.

However, concerns were raised about recent sabotage incidents attributed to negligence in surveillance. Mr.

Akponim Omojevwh from NNPCL warned that contractors failing to meet their duties would face prosecution. Traditional rulers and civil society representatives praised PINL's efforts but urged the company to ensure timely payments to stakeholders.
