Security Tightens at Presidential Villa Amid Protest Plans

On Thursday, security operatives implemented strict access restrictions to the Presidential Villa in Abuja due to concerns over a planned protest by Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress. The protest was in response to the recent abduction of schoolchildren and a teacher in Oyo State, who remain unrescued.

Armed personnel from various security agencies, including the police and the Department of State Services (DSS), began limiting access to the area as early as 7 AM, affecting two major routes leading to the Villa. Motorists and pedestrians were turned away unless they could provide legitimate reasons for entering the area.

This unusual security measure resulted in significant disruptions to vehicular movement around the vicinity. The protest was declared on the same day, emphasizing the ongoing concerns regarding the government's response to the abductions.
