Wase Constituents Protest Against Lawmaker's Re-election Bid

Constituents from Wase, Plateau State, staged a peaceful protest against Hon. Idri Ahmad Wase's bid for re-election, emphasizing that his 20 years of representation were sufficient.

The protest, which attracted participants from four districts, was organized by a coalition of community leaders and youth groups. They carried placards with messages advocating for leadership rotation to foster equitable political inclusion.

The chairman of the APC Wase Local Government Area, Alhaji Yusuf Shagari, expressed that the demands would be presented to APC stakeholders, urging them to listen to the constituents' grievances. The protest highlighted concerns about the monopolization of political power within a single district, which the protesters argued undermines democratic principles and marginalizes other districts.

They called for a rotational framework to enhance unity and encourage broader participation in governance, ultimately aiming to unlock diverse leadership potential and reduce political friction.
