Plateau Government Orders Arrests Over Road Blockade Violence

The Plateau State Government condemned the blockade of the Mangu–Sabon Gari road and ordered security agencies to arrest and prosecute those involved in the violence that erupted on May 1, 2026. This unrest followed the killing of individuals on April 30, 2026, in Sabon Gari.

Joyc Ramnap, a representative of the state government, expressed concern over the violence and stated that blocking roads and attacking innocent commuters would not be tolerated. The government emphasized that grievances do not justify such actions and warned that any reprisals would face the full weight of the law.

The government extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and commended the efforts of security agencies in restoring peace. Ramnap urged community, religious, and political leaders to remain calm and help reduce tensions, encouraging citizens to use lawful channels to express their concerns.
