BYM Condemns Attacks in Plateau State, Calls for Action

The Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM) condemned recent attacks by suspected armed Fulani terrorists in Rim and Wereng communities within the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, which led to the deaths of two youths: 39-year-old Joel Bwede and 22-year-old Justice Dadong. In a statement from its Publicity Secretary, Rwang Tengwong, the BYM expressed deep concern over the increasing frequency of such attacks and the resulting loss of life.

The association emphasized that each casualty represents a family affected and a community traumatized. It warned against allowing these persistent attacks to become normalized in Plateau State.

The BYM urged both the Federal and state governments, alongside security agencies, to enhance efforts to protect residents and their properties. They demanded a stronger security presence in vulnerable areas, improved intelligence gathering, and rapid-response mechanisms to prevent further violence.

Additionally, the BYM called for an immediate investigation into the killings and the prosecution of those responsible, while extending condolences to the victims' families.
