Gunmen Kill Two in Plateau State Community Attacks

On Tuesday night, gunmen attacked Berom communities in Plateau State, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to one. The attacks occurred in at least four locations: Gwa-Wereng Rim, Kyeng Village in Bachi District, Dorong, and Jol Village.

The Berom Youth Moulders-Association confirmed the fatalities, identifying the deceased as Bulus Mwagwong, also known as Dikko, and 47-year-old Stephen Dachollom Kaze. Yakubu, a cousin of Mwagwong, was seriously injured.

The violence began around 9:30 p.m. when gunmen invaded Gwa-Wereng Rim, opening fire on residents. In Dorong, attackers set houses ablaze, causing significant property damage and forcing residents to flee.

The BYM's National President, Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, condemned the attacks, calling them a serious threat to rural communities' safety. The association urged security agencies to enhance their presence and pursue the attackers, while also appealing to the Plateau State Government for immediate assistance to affected families.
