Tinubu Visits Jos to Address Recent Killings in Plateau

On Thursday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu visited Jos, Plateau State, to express condolences to victims of recent killings. His original itinerary included a trip to Ogun State, which was suspended to facilitate this urgent visit.

Special Adviser to the President, Bayo Onanuga, explained that logistical challenges, including a 40-minute road distance from the airport to the township and the absence of navigational aids for night flights, prevented Tinubu from meeting victims directly in Angwa Rukuba. Consequently, a meeting was arranged at a hall adjacent to the airport.

During this visit, Tinubu deployed a high-level team to engage with stakeholders in the area, including the Minister of Defence, Chief of Army Staff, and Inspector General of Police, to address the ongoing conflict and stabilize the region. The visit aimed to strengthen security cooperation and prevent further violence in Plateau State.
