WhatsApp Introduces 2x Playback for Status Videos

WhatsApp is introducing a new feature that enables users to play Status videos at double speed, currently being tested by selected beta testers on iOS through the 26.36.10.70 update via Apple’s TestFlight program. This 2x playback feature allows users to temporarily watch videos at twice their normal speed by pressing and holding the right side of the screen.

Releasing the hold returns the video to its original speed, providing flexibility without altering settings permanently. This feature is particularly beneficial for users who follow numerous Status updates daily.

The 2x playback option is not limited to music videos but applies to all video Status updates. WhatsApp has also recently allowed longer music clips for Status updates, extending the clip length from 15 to 30 seconds.

The wider rollout of the 2x playback feature will depend on WhatsApp's testing process, with no specific date announced for broader availability on iPhone or Android devices.
